Basically the house falls apart when I get sick. So tomorrow is pay back time. A lot of laundry and other stuff to do.
A blog about my life, my fiber arts and pictures of my finished work. I will also throw in the very occasional recipe or shopping tip.

I Got Sick
I landed up with the latest tummy bug that was going around. This basically meant that I was up half the night and did not get any laundry done. The only thing that got done was knitting 3 more hats for next winter to bring the total for the month to 11 hats finished. I have not made much of a dent in my yarn stash either.

Busy with a Chance of Knitting
My guess last night, that Eric would be home sick today was spot on. Eric was running a fever all day long and it seemed to get higher as the day wore on. I am really hoping it was do to the family outing on Sunday and not the really bad cold that is going around his day program. He was cranky all day and wanted me close by all day.
So my day consisted of catching up on laundry, a little picking up around the house and lots and lots of knitting. I started out the day on size 6 knitting needles working on the stripes of a hat. Then when I got tired of that I went to size 7 knitting needles and worked on a poncho, 1.5 inches later it was time to switch things up. So I went to size 10.5 knitting needles. I started 3 hats and finished 2 of them. This was more my speed today. I wanted to finish things fast. For some reason I just need to get things finished quickly when I am sitting with Eric all day. I need to feel that I have accomplished something besides sitting all day. I also took the time to weave in the ends of another hat.
I don't have a row count yet. I just threw all the freshly knitted items into a laundry basket to be tagged and counted at a later date. If worst comes to worst, I will count all the rows when the laundry basket is full.
Well it looks like Eric is going to be home tomorrow too, so I think it is time to call it a day.

Something Diffrent
This week when Eric got sick, I tried something different. I tried it without as much caffeine as normal. This was something I have never ever tried before. I'm not sure if it worked or not. Today I landed up taking a couple of naps instead of grabbing a couple of sodas or highly caffeinated tea. I guess that this was better for my body but, the house did not get as clean as I had wanted. Oh well, there's always tomorrow.
I did the very basics of housework. Then spent some time relaxing by weaving part of a scarf, spinning some new yarn, and working on a new baby blanket. I am much more relaxed but much more tired.
It will take a few more days for me to figure out if this experiment really worked or not. Yes, Eric is feeling better and with any luck he will be out the door Monday morning to his program. I am looking forward to a real day off.

The Weekend
We had a lay low weekend. We did a little house work. Eric and I are trying to kick the last of the latest cold, I think Eric is having an easier time of it.
I might have over done it yesterday when I mopped Eric's room old school after Scooba's battrie died yesterday. So except for laundry I did not get any housework done today.
I did get a lot of spinning done this weekend. So a lot less knitting got done. I am getting tired so this is the end of this post.

A Pretty Good Day
Eric is doing much better. I got my first smile from him since Sunday today. Since he is sleeping better for the most part I found some energy to do a little housework today. Although tonight he wanted my attention and after 2 1/2 hours of repositioning and cuddling I am hoping that he is finally on the road to sleep.
As for the rest of the day I did get to enjoy some time knitting and chatting with friends.I had lunch with Nancy. I also went on a short shopping trip for shoes but came up empty handed again today. After the house cleaning I did find some time to spin on both the wheel and a drop spindle. I am down to my last spindle full of "Lady Edith" by Cloudlover Yarn and Fiber , I know that I have been spinning this braid forever but it does take time to spin lace weight yarn on a drop spindle. This is the second to last spindle full before I plied it earlier this evening. I am using a Bosworth spindle , this is the this mini size.

I guess Eric might not be quite ready to settle down yet so I am going to check on him. Lets all hope that he sleeps tonight as it is already past 1 am on Saturday morning and I would have preferred to be asleep by 10pm on Friday night.

Tired Days and Mondays
After only 4 hours of sleep, yes Eric was up until 2 am this morning and the day started at 6 am. with a migraine, I can say I had a relatively good day. The day consisted of laundry and sporadic house work ( when I had the energy to move and my head was not throbbing). I am getting very good at cleaning while tired. Eric slept through half of his first day home from school and then wanted constant attention. Just the usual stuff.
I pick out a partial skein of yarn from the scrap yarn basket and decided to make a hot pad. Then a small bag of a lighter shade of green just screamed out to me use me, use me. I don't know if it was do to the headache or being over tired but it morphed into an art work piece. Tomorrow I will weave in the ends and do a light felting. Pictures will follow when it is finished.
John was wonderful and brought home dinner tonight. Well I want to call it a early night. Sorry for the tired ramblings.
