I Feel Really Silly

Today I pick up a knitting project that I have not worked on in 2 weeks. What did I find inside? My “lost” notions bag.  Which leads me to my nearly unattainable goal of having less works in progress, currently standing with least 12 in progress projects. No wonder I miss place things like a notion bag.

My goal for 2024 is to have less knitting projects going at the same time.  To try to finish smaller projects within the week that they were started.  I will exempt weaving, and spinning projects, because by definition they do take longer.  Wish me luck.

I will also try to get new knitting patterns out faster.  Meaning from concept to finish pattern in a more reasonable and realistic time frame.

I find it hard not to start a new project on a whim.  Maybe starting a notebook to keep track of things might not be a bad idea.  Finish multiple projects before I start a new project. It would help me keep track of things.  This is another baby step on the way to being more organized and productive.  Wish me luck.

Below is the project bag that was hiding my notions bag

I Am Behind on Patterns

Things are going pretty good right now. I just wish at times I had a staff to type up my pattern notes and take pictures of my finished objects.  I am about 3 patterns behind now.  Maybe I will just have to buckle down. When John’s at work I should be working too.  I think I will give it a try next week.

I just don’t make enough on pattern sales to hire anyone.  If I am really lucky I sell enough patterns to pay for the yarn.  I usually don’t include time to design, knit, photograph or type my patterns. The numbers would be just to dismal even for me.    Bring a pattern designer is a lot like the other arts. A few make bank and the rest of us have a supportive spouses or full time jobs or both.

Stay safe and consider wearing masks again. The COVID19 numbers are going up again.

New Patterns

I published 2 new knitting patterns this week. They are available on Raverly and LoveKnitting.com.

The first is called Square Dance. Pictured below.  This is a scarf with 3 special yarns dyed by Lily of Merinoyvino on Etsy.  Only one skein is needed unless you want a longer scarf.

The second is called Trisha’s Shawl. This started out as a table runner but morphed into a shawl for summer.  The yarn is called Anne and is available at Grandma’s Spinning Wheel in Tucson, Arizona. If you don’t live locally in Tucson, Vicky will ship the yarn to you.

These are fun and easy projects that would make great holiday gifts.

Happy 2020

This is the first morning of 2020.  This year I will put a few goals in writing.  They are in no particular order.

1. Teri would like me to read 100 books this year.  A more realistic goal is 12.  So I will strive to read 12 books and any extra books read is a bonus for Teri and Bookman’s.

2.  I will try to finish 100 craft projects this year.  With a minimum of 5 dozen hats, to be knit over the summer.

3. I will try to publish 4 patterns this year. I hope that this is not too ambitious for me.

4. I will try to enjoy my retirement and get out more.

I could add more, but this is all that I am willing to commit to this year. I have not set goals since so last century. This list is doable if nothing major happens this year.

Finished Projects

A lot of projects are coming off my knitting needles. Some need to be blocked.  Although I will need to find a new place to block my knitting.  My favorite spot has broken.  Patterns need to be typed up.  I am even finishing projects that have been put aside for awhile.
