They Don’t Make Things Like They Used To

This was the bane of my existence today.  When the garage door closed this morning, the garage door made a strange thunk. I thought the garage door had came off the rail.  John came home and noticed the broken spring. The space between the spring is not supposed to be there. The spring was the original spring from when the house was built.  Not even 40 years old. The poor thing, the heat must have gotten to it. It could not possibly be metal fatigue.

I only found this out on the way to the grocery store. Needless to say my car did not make it out of the garage. So until the garage door is fixed, meaning a new spring is installed. My car is stuck in the garage.  Hopefully they can fix it tomorrow.  Until it is fixed I am stuck at home.

Hopefully this will give me a chance to tweak the numbers on the third piece of the new pattern. Then warp the loom. I have started spinning one, 2 ounce art batt a day to increase my exercise. Eventually I hope to increase my spinning time, on my Louet Victoria.  Which is equivalent to riding a bike or using the sitting elliptical machine. I currently have three boxes of 2 ounce mini art batts. I am spinning them as singles because it is easier to weave with them. Then hopefully I will have more to donate to the children’s clothing bank that I support. I have a feeling that it is going to be a rough year for many families.

New Design Posted Today.

Check out my new pattern on Ravelry and Love Knitting.  Its called Felted Hot Pad. It’s a very practical home accessory for the kitchen. It is a fast and easy gift to make. Did I mention that is uses U.S. size 17 knitting needles, that is 12 mm to the rest of the world.  I designed it when I was very tired after Eric was sick again this week.  It is a beginner knitting pattern.  A more experienced knitter could possibly knit 2 in one day.  If you have not done so check out my other patterns. All patterns will be listed under Sheri Karobonik Designs.

The Hot Pad on the left is after felting.

A Rough Week or 2

I feel that I have lost the battle with my body.  Eric has been sick twice in the past 2 weeks.  There have been too many long days and nights that I would have handled with ease a few decades ago.  I am really trying to take care of myself.  I have been tempted to get some soda, but instead on the long nights I try to have a very small snack every few hours. This seems to be working.

This does not mean that my body does not ache all over.  I can tell you with precise detail which are my weakest tendons and joints. I am still trying to keep up my various therapy for the joints.  This just leaves me exhausted.

I am almost finished with a new knitting pattern. The pattern is written and the sample is knit but not yet felted. I have knit it 6 times to make sure it is correct technically.  I was just too tired to finish up the felting and taking the pictures.  This is a beginning pattern and will make a great holiday gift. I will let you know when it is released and where to get it.

Knitting and More

Eric is still sick and tommrow is up in the air.  He is currently running a fever. I am hoping that Eric's fever breaks tonight and that he feels better tomorrow. I on the other hand feel much better.  My back is finally starting  to feel better after the December accident. I guess everything gets better In its own time.

On the knitting front my new design is coming out much better than I hoped.  It has a lot of body and swish. I am really loving the Dream in Color Marino Cashmere blend. I also got 8 more inches knit today. This might just be the pattern that will be given at the March Old Pueblo Knitters luncheon and fashion show. I will include a link when the web site is updated.  My plan is to add the second skein of yarn tomorrow. Don't worry this pattern will be suitable for a beginning knitting project.

I Step Back

I landed up having to rewash all of the white roving. I did not get enough lanlion off the fiber.  It looks much better now.  The wool will spend tomorrow drying.  Then I will go to the next fleece on Thursday afternoon or Friday morning.  Hopefully that will be the last fleece that I find in the storage room.

Next on the line up are a few dog pillows for my spinning groups dogs. There are a few new puppy's.  I also want to start my next design this week.  There is just so much to do. I will get more accomplished if Eric does a good job of sleeping.
