Busy is the Word
Eric brought in 40 more pounds of soda tabs to the Tucson Ronald McDonald House bringing his life time total (the past 10 years) to 150 pounds. He only has to collect 639 more pounds to make 1,000,000 tabs collected to make it on to the wall of fame.
I have been busy spinning and knitting. a few new patterns are in the pipeline. I have taken the zenning of the house to a whole new level that I thought was not possible for me. I have almost finished filling a giant bag of charity knitting and sewing with some socks added for good measure. It also takes the temptation of using the Bookman's credit for more clutter.
John is graciously bringing loads to Bookman's and Goodwill for me.
I have also been replacing batteries on smoke detectors and remote controls, funny how the work better when the batteries are not dead. . My clothes also seem to have gotten bigger over the summer. So I will have to add shopping to my list.
I am off to do more chores.

Color
The funny thing about the color in clothing is there either seems to be not enough or too much for most people. Take this morning for instance. In the supermarket parking lot there was a woman who commented that my clothes were a bit on the colorful side, in the not very nice way. Let's face it, my tie dye skirts are comfortable and maybe just a bit on the colorful side. This morning was not going very well. I needed something cheery to wear. I had run out of the right size bandages to cover my stitches. So that is how I landed up in the supermarket parking lot at 9 a.m. to begin with. So I really did not see the irony in her statement until later in the day.
When I found the time to get to a get sale and bought 2 monochromatic outfits, one in gray and one in black. My thought was they were a bit on the drab side, but I could weave some new scarfs to go with the outfits. Maybe even knit a shrug or two. Which made me think of the lady in the parking lot and what she was wearing. It was 50 degrees in the sun if we were lucky and she was wearing shorts that matched her skin tone and a shirt that matched her hair, a totally washed out look in my humble opinion. The shorts in 50 degree weather said snowbird all the way. It was then I realized how outrages I must have seemed to her.
All I have to say on the subject is that the color in my wardrobe is here to stay. As the song goes “there are so many colors in the rainbow...” and I will wear every one. Maybe at the same time.
When I told John the story, he just smiled.

From Not a Size 2
This is an open letter to help you understand me your customer a little better. I hate to be knit picky but...I am not a size 2 and deserve the same treatment that you gave the size 2 customer.
When I come in telling you I need new clothes because I have lost a lot of weight please don't do the following:
1. Look at me like I am the elephant in the room. I personally think that dropping a whole size on my own is a great big deal. Yes I am still heavy, but you should have seen me before.
2. Give me a pair of pants 3 full sizes bigger than I currently am. I know that they are much to large when I do not need to undo the zipper or button to get the pants on and off. Then tell me just to get a belt to cinch it up a bit. That will keep them from falling down. Really? Wouldn't I be better off with a smaller pair of pants?
3. Give me a sweater at least a full size larger and tell me just to roll up the sleeves a couple of times. That is not the way they showed it in your stores catalog. By the way the knitting magazines have straight sleeves this season. Not rolled up in bunches at the wrist and pushed up the arm. Also I am not buying a tent, just a sweater.
4. Clear the sales racks of all the clothes that are a size or more too large and tell me that this is the style. I just sent a bunch of my clothes that were too large to Goodwill for up cycling. It really is a bad reflection on you, that you think so little of your customers that you will tell them anything just to make a sale. Think about it, I did not buy the junky looking clothes that did not look good on me. You wasted both of our time.
5. I have been a customer longer than you have been an employee of the store. Who do you think will be around longer? Oh, just in case you were wondering where the money from your paycheck comes from, it is me the customer. With out a customer base your company would not have the money to hire you.
Considering all this are you sure you are in the right job. Do you need to do an attitude adjustment? Isn't my money just as good as anyone Else's? Didn't your parent ever teach you manners? In this economy is is really the right thing to tick a customer off?
Store managers please feel free to share this with you employees. Thanks for listening.

Teri Time
Teri is doing well. I am so pleased how she has turned out as an adult. I have enjoyed spending time with her this week. I hate the fact that we have to wait until November to to get the results of this weeks test.
John has been doing very well considering that Eric is giving so a run for it. Well It is time for me to go pack up Teri's stuff as we have a 1pm check out.

Reaping Dividends
The dividends started really coming this morning when I got dressed for the day. I either needed to be 6 inches taller, buy much taller shoes or dig into my closet for smaller pants. I of course choose the smaller pants. Here I am go through my closet like a teenage girl trying to find something that looks nice.
Another dividend that I noticed is that I have more energy. Which means more things are getting done around the house. Today was not one of those days however since I was up until a little after midnight with Eric and started my day at 5:45 am. So goes my life with Eric. I did manage to get him out the door for the 13th straight day of school, for which I am very grateful to the powers that be.
I did manage to ply 1 small skein of alpaca this morning while we were waiting for the bus and then proceeded to start spinning another bit of Moreno wool. I spent a lot of time spinning and did even manage to get a nap, baking and a little cleaning in today.
Well it is time to go hook up a hungry boy for the night. So have a great evening and enjoy your families.
