A Perfect Day

What a wonderful day I had. I spent the day at the Tucson Wool Festival. The people were great, the vendors were awesome and a few sheep and goats got their hair cut. I would like to publicly thank Kathy and Mark Withers for putting on such an awesome event.

Some of the highlights included:

Demonstrations of spinning on wheels and spindles.

Farm tours.

Knitting and crochet demonstrations.

Carding demonstrations.

Mini lessons. I got to teach a wonderful 5th grader named Georgia how to knit. She had a good inch knit by the time the show was over.

There was a very quick visit by John and Eric. They were so wonderful and brought me a sandwich and of Venti cup of iced green tea from Starbucks. It was a little on the hot side for Eric so I sent John to look around and sent them packing after about 15 minutes. I did not think I have it in me to do an all nighter tonight.

Oh yes and I did not take home as much as I came with. I would also like to say what took me 4 days to assemble for the show was unpacked and put away in less than and hour. Go figure. Well it is almost 6 pm so I am headed out to Mayco's to pick up dinner. Have a wonderful evening.

A Wonderful Day

A very relaxing day was had by all today. The day started off with some spinning . Followed by an unintended nap. You guessed it followed by more spinning and knitting. Shopping and dinner with John.  I was really adventuresome at dinner and had salmon at Mayco's and yes I would order it again.

You will also notice that I changed my amazon link and plan to highlight some of my favorite songs. I promise the mix will be electric and that I personally like all the songs that will be listed. I also have paid for my own copies of the songs. If you click the link and decide to buy the song, Amazon will credit me with a small advertising fee. But please only buy the songs if you like them.

Well it is getting late and I think my guys want to do a little more tomorrow.

Mother's Day 2011

My Mother's Day for this year started rather early this morning as Eric is having a rather hard time recovering from this bout of pneumonia. I truly had one of those befuddled nights with no attention span at all. I started out knitting on a poncho. After a few rows I switched to a scarf. Then to yet another scarf and back and forth between the 2 scarfs. I think I have a few too many things on the needles when I can switch back and forth like that and still not get anything finished.

I got to talk to my mom very early this morning before she headed out to my sisters house. The guys took me to brunch at China Phoenix for dim sum.  I then got to spend the afternoon spinning and knitting. Yes I again hopped from project to project. I still have a lot of UFOs.

One of the high lights of my day was that Teri managed to break away from studying for finals for a few minutes to talk. Talk about an  wonderful an unexpected call. John and I got a quick dinner at Mayco's while Eric and his aide worked on his night time routine. Well I think I will call it a night and try to stay awake long enough to put Eric to bed.

Enjoying My Holidays

I am enjoying my holidays with everyone home. Yesterday we went to see Disney's new movie Tron, which was pretty good, not much knitting got done. My only 2 request to the movie makers are better fitting 3-D movie glasses to fit over my glasses and to come up with a way to do 3-D that does not leave me with a blazing headache. I personally feel a headache does distract from the overall movie experience.

After the movie we went for dim sum at China Phoenix. As usual the food and service were great. Sarah did her best to make sure we left with full tummies. Then it was home to relax and watch some TV.

Today after a late start I took the kids to Beyond Bread for lunch. Teri and I split the Avi's Avo for lunch. Avi's Avo is a turkey and avocado sandwich that is wonderful, and is one of our favorites.  I then sent Teri ahead to one of our local favorites a really wonderful book store called Bookmans Used Book Store. This gave me time to finish feeding Eric. There was not much that I needed at Bookmans so after perusing the store Eric I relaxed at the section of the store with tables and I worked on my latest charity project. Teri meanwhile pick out a full bag of books to read.

We ended the day by leaving the guys at home and going to Mayco's for their wonderful chicken taco's. It was good to have a girls night out. Teri does have a request from the family that runs Mayco's, please bring Mayco's to the Silicon Valley.

Check back in this blog during the next 2 weeks for some of our favorite Tucson spots. Have a great evening and enjoy your families.

Just an Update

Not much has been happening since my last post. I have been cleaning and knitting. I am almost half way through Eric's new hat for school. I hope to have it finished soon. I am on row 9 blocks 7 of 17 blocks wide on Teri's blanket. After row 9 is done I have only 12 rows of 17 blocks left to knit. Then I will add a small boarder. So when finished Teri's blanket will be 21 rows long by 17 blocks wide. I really hope that this will be big enough, because I am not doing a redo on this blanket. I am using a mitered square/modular block with an initial cast-on of 41 stitches be square on size seven needles.

The boys surprised me last night with a dinner out for my birthday. I cannot remember the last time we went out on a Saturday night. Macyo's was good as usual. If you are in Tucson or Phoenix you must stop by one of their locations and have the chicken taco's. Be sure to leave room for the soapia's for dessert.

On the cleaning front I can say with certainty that I no longer have any shirts in my drawers from the last century. Yes the shirts from 1984 that have Hawaii across them should be at Goodwill sometime next week. The shirts commemorating the 1994 Northridge earthquake are also gone. I think I can now safely classify myself as a pack rat in remission. I still have a long way to go, but I did not save it in one day, it is not going to be gone in one day.

Well it is time to do some knitting or shopping for dinner. So have a great evening and enjoy your families.

Mayco's has not paid for a spot in this blog, we have been happily eating at Mayco's since 1994. It is a family favorite.

We made it Through the Week or TGIF

Eric got the stomach bug that was going around camp. After a long night of wild eyrps on Wednesday. I trudged through a long day of laundry and caring for Eric on Thursday. Trying to get a few naps in at the same time. In between all that I hand made a basket full of 100% cotton make-up remover pads.

I wanted to let you know that the camp bake sale was an over whelming success. They raised over 100 dollars. They had so much fun that they will do one in a few weeks. I will keep you posted. A big thank you to all of you who stopped by and help the campers out.

Friday morning started off GREAT. Eric was well enough to go to camp. I finally had time to meet up with my friends at the Foothills Mall Food Court. This is the most wonderful group of ladies around. There were new projects to be shown off including hand knit doll clothes and scarfs. I known your are thinking scarfs in Tucson,it's over 100 degrees outside right now, but before you know it the temperatures will dip to a chilly 70 degrees and they will be here when we need them. We had a discussion as to what constitutes "vintage yarn" and decided that anything in your stash longer than 5 years should be considered vintage. I got yarned by Suzy, 2 skeins of super wash wool, it is already saying make me into a scarf, with a zig-zag pattern. Before I knew it it was 11:30 and we broke up for errands or lunch.

A group of us went to Mayco's, its been a while since I have been there and they have changed up the lunch menu for the better. You have just got to try "O" on the lunch special menu it was just a little bit of heaven-sigh.

I have added some make-up remover pads that are hand crocheted cotton of various colors. These were added before camp this morning. I have listed a set of 10 but if you want more please let me know. Please feel free to stop by my shop to see everything I currently have for sale at www.artfire.com/users/Handmade~by~Sheri.
This afternoon with the help of John from Art Fire.come I got a Rapid Cart working on my blog. Thank you so much John. For those of you who have not used Rapid Cart in the past it is very easy to use. I have 3 items randomly in a box in the upper left hand corner of my blog. If you decided you want the item all you have to do is to click on the image and you will be brought to the check out for my on-line shop, pay with Pay-pal and your item will be shipped to you as soon as I receive confirmation of payment.
To sum up to day there is only one word for it, WONDERFUL. Have a great weekend :p
