Recoup Time

Sometimes there is a down side to sharing.  I landed up with Eric's cold.  It woke me up at midnight and I then understood how miserable Eric was.  The good news is that with my immune system in a very hyper state I was feeling better by this afternoon. Just a warning for everyone, I will be expecting a bad body day for a few days as I am already very stiff.

There was no construction work today. So Eric and I took it easy today. I set my sights on UFO's.  For those who are not craft people UFO' are unfinished projects.  While I was resting I managed to get 6 UFO's finished today.  I then looked for a few more UFO's to finish.  So after all was knit and done I have 1 more empty project bag and a free set of knitting needles.  Plus I can add 727 rows to the million row challenge on Ravelry.

Tomorrow is suppose to be the last day for the kitchen remodel. Thursday we are suppose to repair the water damage to the master bathroom caused by problems with the last remodel. After 5 years we finally finished fixing the mistakes on the addition. Fingers crossed as I say this.   Then next week we move back into the craft room. When that is finished we will move onto the living room.  With completion before mid December.  Hopefully I can make a honey do list for a few more things I want done like the back door, I want to keep this energy moving forward.

Turning The Corner

Eric made it back to his day program today.  This gave me a nice down day.  I had no laundry or other chores that needed to be done. I finished weaving one rag rug and re wrapped the loom.  The good news is that I have enough of the dinosaur sheets to make a second rag rug.  I also finished another hand knit hat.

I I spent the day fighting that nauseous feeling. Just eating crackers and sipping liquids.  I am hoping that I am just exhausted from Eric being home sick for 2 weeks and that I did not pick up his cold.  I know tomorrow will be a better day.

I got the cold

I really don't know how I did it. I meet my 10,000 step goal for the day. The cold Eric had this weekend hit me with venengence today.  I landed up taking a 4 hour nap today.  I still managed to knit 1 hat and finish part of a comminisioned project.

Even with a long nap I am tired and calling it an early evening so I will have energy to finish the major project of the week.

The Day of a Sick Mom

Ok, so I am very grumpy, as this is day 2 of the bug and my tummy is still yucky. In addition my throat also hurts. So this is what my day looks like when I am sick on the second day.

1. Drive and drop off Eric at his day program.
2.  Start Roomba off in any given room.
3.  Gather, sort , prioritize, then start the laundry. It is nearing knee high because I skipped yesterday.
4.  Start the dishwasher and do the dishes in the sink.  John, can empty the dishwasher later.
5.  Make a cuppa tea and rest for a bit.
6. Knit hats, because I don't have the energy to do anything else. I can also knit a basic hat in my sleep.
7.  Pick up Eric from his day program.
8.  Watch PBS Kids with Eric until his aide comes.
9.  I put John in charge of dinner before he left for work, so I can skip cooking dinner tonight.
10. Help get Eric ready for bed. Tell him he can not have a good night kiss because mommy is still sick and watch him pout.
11. Hope I get a good nights sleep knowing that I hit day 2 of the cold because my body was back in kilter.  Also knowing that this cold will cause a flare up and that there is nothing that can be done about it.  This is the reason I hate my own body sometimes.

Time for more rest and tea.  I promise that if I am feeling better tomorrow, I won't be so grumpy.

I Got Sick

I landed up with the latest tummy bug that was going around.  This basically meant that I was up half the night and did not get any laundry done.  The only thing that got done was knitting 3 more hats for next winter to bring the total for the month to 11 hats finished.  I have not made much of a dent in my yarn stash either.

Basically the house falls apart when I get sick.  So tomorrow is pay back time. A lot of laundry and other stuff to do.

Saturday.

The day started out really well today. By 10:30 am I had the second load of laundry started. I had started organizing my gift and carrier bags   I then went on to organize the gift wrap, it is all in the warping paper box.  I then condensed 5 boxes and large bags into 3/4 of 1 box.  I also found a lot of things that I did not relize that I had.  I even found a cassette gift box from so last century. It found its way into the recycling bin, along with a lot of other unneeded stuff.

Then the curds that are going around hit. I spent most of the rest of the day in bed.  Later in the evening I had enough energy to get some knitting done.

I am hoping that Eric has not gotten the curds too.  He has spent the night coughing up a storm.

Even though I spent most of the day resting, I think I will call it an early night.

Another Day and the SevOld Cold

This cold still has me in its grips. I cancelled most of my day and slept. The only things that got accomplished were some knitting in which I made it through the first row of lace. I placed a stitch marker every 14 stitches, which is the pattern repeat.

I also now know where all my pants are. They are hanging on the cloths line drying.  I will never understand how I can keep up with Eric's laundry, but fall so behind on my own.

Now I just have to figure out how to sleep so I won't be coughing all night. Here is hoping for a better day tomorrow.  I still have 8 more project bags to sew before Thursday.

Feeling Yucky

The crud has invaded. Both Eric and I are sick. We will try to get into the doctors or urgent care this morning. Now to keep John from getting it, because I have so little energy even knitting seems to be a lot of work. I am drinking my hot tea with lemon and honey while I write this. It might be old school but it tastes better than cough syrup.

I do have to end this on the bright side thought. Just remember that the family that gets sick together stays together.

Update:

Both Eric and I are on antibiotics and will lay low for a few days and hope that John does not get this.

Eric Shared His Cold

Well if the cold is bad enough Eric usually shares it with me. Today was no exception. I did not even have enough energy to get the bare minimum of 2 loads of Eric's laundry finished. The last load is still in the dryer, its dry so it can stay there a few more hours or days. It is not like there is a shortage of chucks and face wipes.

The high light of my day was drinking Christmas Blend Black tea with honey. After the 5th cup I changed to Sprite for 1 bottle, don't worry it is the imported kind so it has no HFCS's. In between napping and drinking liquids my only real accomplishment of the day was finishing 2 charity hats and getting a 3rd one cast on.

Pattern Alert On today's hats I changed up the hats to a 2 x 2 ribbing for 8 rows, so the cast on was in multiples of 4 + 1. I do this because I knit the 1st and last cast on stitch together to elimate the jag that knitting in the round sometimes produces. Followed by 4 even increases in row 9. I then knit in the stockinette stitch for 4 more inches. For the decrease I evenly spaced the 4 SSK"s. At 8 stitches left the hat was finished and then weaving in the ends and casting on the next hat.

I am leaving John in charge of dinner and plan on spending the remainder of the day resting. I hope I beat this bug soon, tomorrow would be nice John is thinking longer grrr.

Hump Day

The most important part of the day is that Eric got out of the house and went to his day program. He had a great time. John did double duty today, he did both car pool runs and all the cooking. I am at the tale end of the cold Eric shared with me. I rested a lot and took a long nap.

I did manage to finish one hat and cast on 2 more projects. The good news is that with this intense effort to finish things, the UFO / yarn pile is noticeably smaller. You can actually see some of the wood on the table that I piled things on.  I am also only working on projects that I like and want to finish. I want to do a little fancy knitting, the kind not suitable for most charity projects.

Now on to the odd thing that went missing this time. John went out to fix the solar lights on the walkway this afternoon after lunch. He made a list of what needed to be fixed. He went to the box of spare parts and extra solar lights that we keep in the garage. The box was cleaned out of parts except for the rock that he uses to pound in the stakes and put back into place.  It is my hope that the right kind of Karma follow the people who take things.

This leads me to one simple request to the solar lighting industry. Instead of saying our lights are 2 or 3 times brighter. Not mentioning what they are brighter than please, please, please just list the amount of Luminous intensity you lights produce. It would be so much easier for all of us. Best of all they do have sensors that can give you that information. With that request I will end the blog post for tonight.

It's Going Around

Last night I woke up with the cold de jour. So I spent the day on light mommy duty, just the usual laundry and a little picking up.  In deference to feeling yucky I only did 2 loads of laundry. I did get lots of rest and fluids in. I think I managed to get enough sleep in today because by dinner time most of the swelling went down and I was actually feeling well enough to make a light supper for John and I.

That turned out to be a very good thing.  Just as I was topping Eric off for the night the wild eyrping started.  Which left John wondering why he changed the beds today. I also have 3 more loads of laundry to do to night.  This in turn lead to the decision not to fold any laundry tonight but wait for tomorrow instead.  My goal is just to get it all washed.

What amazes me is that Eric and I got different bugs.  Did I mention how much I hate summer bugs? Oh well, it must have been my to do lists that started it all.

I am waiting a bit before I hook up the pedialyte.  Well I guess it is time to start knitting and see if I can get anything done.

Memorial Day Weekend

We are all in the last stages of the awful of a cold. I might have gotten better quicker if I did not do a 21 hour work day while John was helping Teri move. All the things I had planned to do while John was with Teri went by the wayside. I just started to do some of the work today. Then became so tired I took a 4 hour nap this afternoon. My voice has almost recovered. The arthritis has kick in with gusto. The only question that remains is if Eric and I will be well enough to go to his day program Tuesday for a day of training for this summers advocate.

Now to the important thing about this weekend.

Please take a moment to remember why tomorrow is a holiday. It may be a day of picnic's and the start of summer. But there is more to Monday. Monday is Memorial Day, a day of remembrance. To remember all the service members that have given their all since 1776.  Please take a moment to think about what this means. If there is a Gold Star Family* by you check in on them. Bring some flowers or a light snack over to them. Ask if you can do any thing for them. Their families have given the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom we all enjoy.

*Military families are considered "Gold Star" if family members died in service. The terms refer to official military service flags, which use star emblems to represent family members serving during war or hostilities.

And the Cold Marches On

What a week this has been so far. Eric's cold morphed into needing antibiotics. Eric also shared his cold with me, now I can see why he was so miserable. It has officially moved into my sinus and all I can say is ouch. So the house is the official infirmary.

John escaped this madness by going to help Teri move into her new apartment. Yes, John did bump up the schedule and from what I hear there are boxes everywhere in her new apartment. Teri thought that they would unload the truck tomorrow.

Between Eric and the cold I am just napping and working on very easy UFOs. One scarf got finished today and I made a lot of progress on another. Eric's dragon graciously agreed to be the model for the scarf I finished today. The decongestant is starting to work it's magic so it's time for the final spell check and then off to bed.

I am Still Recovering

I am not quite back to full speed. This bug has really knocked me for a loop. I slept a good part of the day. If you know me well this will tell you where I am on the road to recovery. I have a homemade spice cake with butter creme frosting just sitting on the counter and I really don't want a slice. My joints are still swollen and my rib cage still hurts, so please don't try to make me laugh.

I have been listening to books on tape and knitting when I am awake. I am finishing little odds and ends. I am also writing a pattern out. I figured if I am still liking the pattern on the 6th one, it is time to write it up.

John is doing a wonderful job taking care of Eric and I. This is a very good thing because I am still very low on energy. 2 loads of laundry with help equaled a 2 hour nap for me this afternoon. Well its time to call it a night.

Still Here

It has been a bit crazy around here lately. If you have not been to the house in a while you will not recognize the interior of the house. The house no longer looks like a fiber artist has taken over the house completely. I am beginning to adjust to that, now I just have to remember where I put everything and I will be fine. I still find it a bit disconcerting to have to go to the garage to pull out stash yarn and fiber to work with. I know once my stash is a manageable size, it will all be in the house. Now don't you all hold your breath. It might take another year or 2 to get to that point.

Eric shared his cold with me and I spent all of yesterday sleeping while John was in charge of Eric. Except for a little post viral asthma for Eric all seems to be better today. I am also feeling better but still on the tired side.

Eric even let me spin in his room today. I finished 2 spinning projects today and both are off the spindles. I am still on a hat streak and knitting 3 to 4 hats a week. I will either get tired of knitting them or the scrap basket will get to low to make really awesome hats and I will have to move on to other things.

Well I think I will call it quits for tonight and tuck Eric in.

The Crud's Go On and On

The crud's are still here in full force. I have hit tired and cranky. The only things I can seem to knit are scarfs and wash cloths. Speaking of the wash cloths I have made them over sized with interesting patterns through out. Right now I think they look pretty good but that could all change when I feel better. Also when you see the wash cloths if you would like me to write up the pattern please let me know.  When I am feeling better I think I will list them. I will post them on my twitter feed and face book page when I do the finishing work if you can't wait.

Eric has learned a new trick. He has figured out how to get the nebulizer mask off and dump all the meds on the floor by leaning forward and shaking his head. I guess I am lucky that it took him so long to figure out but why yesterday of all days. Yes he was very proud of himself for figuring that out.

Well Eric is asleep so I will go and take a nap.

The Crud's

The crud's have found their way to our house yet again. Eric has had 3 miserable days and I hope the secondary passes us by this time. He has shared with me so not much is getting done.

Yesterday was Teri's final day of classes at Law School. I was so busy it does not seem like 3 years have gone by. Now she just has to get through her finals and the Bar. I am just so proud of her and all that she has done.

We I am getting very tired and Eric will not go to sleep if he here me clacking at the key board. So it time to say good night

Under the Weather

Eric's cold has morphed and he is home from school for another week. He was kind enough to share his cold with me and maybe John, only time will tell.  So if you are expecting me any where this week all I can say is sorry, but you know where I will be all week. With luck Eric will be out the door on Monday.

On a different note I wish everyone who is celebrating a Happy Purim and for those in the middle of Lent I hope it is easy for you this year.

Wild Eyrps and Other Things

Day umpteenth and 1 of Eric being sick. He has also shared his latest cold with me. He gave me one of his huge smiles when I thanked him for the cold.

It was a very busy but productive day. Eric had not 1 but 2 doctors office visits. One in the morning and one in the afternoon. Yes he did manage to eyrp at both offices. I have to say Dr. Williams and his staff handled the eyrping better than UPH. Luckily for me he did not eyrp at my doctors appointment. Other than a sinus infection Eric seems to be doing OK for Eric. My Arthritis seems to be OK and the meds seem to be working. By the way did you know your whole hand can act like a trigger finger? Its just something I thought I would pass along to you. Just in case you needed a random oddity to discuss.

I did bring a drop spindle and knitting with me today. I finished knitting one cap and started knitting another one. I also got a little spinning done. My to do list is a mess having only accomplished the doctors appointments and nothing else.

Well I think I will go get Eric's medicine and leave him with the nurse for a few minutes.  Then either collapse or work on Mondays to do list. That is yet to be decided. I always have to end a a bright note and today that note is dinner is cooked for tonight already. So have a good evening and enjoy your families.

Its Been A While

It has been a while since I last blogged. In that time John had a wonderful trip to visit Teri. Teri came home for 3 days. I got sick and went on antibiotics. The medicine knocked me for a loop. I also had 3 or 4 days when I was just too sick to knit or spin. Yes it was that bad.

I am doing better and have gotten my knitting, spinning and weaving mojo back. I just might be making a dent in the scrap yarn and odd ball collection. Yes I am on my fourth scrappy hat of the week. Other stuff is getting done too.

Eric went back to school on Thursday and Teri starts sometime very soon. Teri is already busy doing reading and other homework before school starts. You just have to admire teachers who give out assignments before the first day of school and are confident that the work will get done.

Well before I run out of steam I will say goodnight and have a wonderful weekend. Most of all enjoy your families.
