Drip, drip goes the kitchen faucet

There are somethings that break and the day just goes on as normal.  The vacuum breaks and the floor just not get vacuumed for a week or so.  The washing machine breaks, just go to the laundromat.  The strap breaks on your purse, just swap out purses then head to Goodwill or a clearance sale to replace the purse.  No big deal.

Then there is other stuff that just blows up the day and then some like the air conditioning unit going out in the middle of summer.  There is the driver who has decided that you should be turning right instead of going straight and  totals your car.  The refrigerator dies for no reason the day after you go shopping for the week. The water line to the house breaks. A roof that leaks.  These are the expensive ones.  We have had a few too many of those this year.

For us this time, it is the kitchen faucet that starts leaking just out of warranty. The faucet is only 2 years old. The kind of leak where everything needs to be emptied from underneath the sink so that the area can dry out. We don’t want a mold problem.  The faucet has a structural problem that can not be fixed

SO tomorrow we get to go pick out a new kitchen faucet.  We are definitely not buying the same brand.  I am so not excited about this. I plan to change the knitting project in my purse so that I can knit as we shop. Just a plain garter stitch pattern

For me that meant that I don’t get to work on my cooking experiment on a sugar free apple pie with no artificial sweeteners either.  I think I will get up early tomorrow to try to get it into the oven.  I still have the laundry sink that I can do hand washing of the dishes in.

While I was busy writing this blogpost, my taller half was busy picking out a new faucet. Yes, he picked a different brand.  He is having it delivered.  Later in the week.  Thank goodness.  These things stress me out.  To my taller half it’s just another problem to solve.  To be fair I was thinking how to work around a kitchen with no dishwasher or sink, my solution was the laundry sink.  I still have not figured out cooking or eating out.  On the very bright side, I am prepared for stress eating.  I just filled up the refrigerator with fruit.  I can eat more fruit than sweets with a lower impact on my health.  Although, I will be getting the disposable silverware and possibly paper plates out for meals.

I hope your day was better.

This and that

When looking for something else, I managed to find out why the recliner was not working properly.  Apparently a coloring book worked its way into the recliner mechanism.  It was very difficult to dislodge, however it was accompanied.   The recliner works perfectly fine now.

I also spent some time spinning today. I went old school with drop spindles.  I finished off one spindle and started another.  After spinning this project on and off for more than a year the first phase is almost finished.  Then it will be time to ply it  I also got to spend some time with a fellow artist.  We talked all things spinning for a while.

All shopping was done online today

A Needy House.

Last year was my year of retooling. This year the house is being super needy. It’s only the middle of February.   We started out in January having the refrigerator dying on us.  That was replaced at the end of January, it took a long time to deliver due to COVID19.

Then in quick secession the washing machine started leaking in two different areas.  The first repair took care of half of the leaking.  The second leak was from the back hoses, intake and out put.  After the third try the washing machine is finally fixed.  It wash just in time. Because I have been loosing weight and inches I don’t have a lot of outfits. I had just enough clothing to last through today.   So before breakfast the laundry was started.  By tomorrow morning everything will be dry.

The the ceiling fan lights went out.  Thankfully John was able to fix it the same day.  Later that night the guest bathroom toilet decided to die.  The parts are on order.  Pre COVID19 it would have just been a quick trip to the hardware store, now it’s order the parts and wait.

Honestly there are other things that need to be done around the house like repairing the chips caused by Eric’s wheelchair. Rooms that have not had a new coat of paint since 1994 and other paint touch ups.  It’s also time to replace the grouting in two bathrooms.  As I am feeling better or after we have our COVID19 vaccines and we can hire someone. It will get done in due time.

Household Repairs

We have spent part of the last three days on household repair projects.  The first repair was repairing two of the backyard screens.  The second repair of the washing machine lead to the third repair or more accurately the replacement of the water valves for the washing machine water intake.  John made it as COVID19 safe as possible by opening the newly repaired screen door window in the laundry room. He then sealed off the room with plastic.  Then we left the fan running to create a constant flow of air out of the laundry room into the backyard.  Even though we were on the other side of the barrier we wore masks while the repair men were here.

I am absolutely done with household repairs for the time being.  I was too tired to do much today. I was to tired to knit which should tell you exactly how tired I am.  I did manage to get one load of laundry finished, John did a great job hanging all the clothing.

It’s time to call it a day.

A Good Day

This is a good day to get the walkway repaired.  We probably should have done it sooner, but it will be finished today, hopefully.

A Mixed Day

Today was a very bad body day for me.  I lost sleep to arthritis pain. I tried to make the time productive by doing some light cleaning while I was waiting for the meds to kick in.  As luck would have it it was the first night since last Thursday that Eric slept.

I spent the day with Eric and with the suction machine close by. I lost count of the times that John cleaned it out today.  The good thing about this is by the end of the day there was less coughing and junk coming up from Eric's lungs.  By bed time his color looked great and he was looking and sounding much better.

Today was one of those what was I thinking days.  I wore solid black. On my agenda today was spackleing the wheelchair dents in the walls plus any spots we noticed.  Here is a picture of one of the bigger areas. I did a pretty good job blending and texturing.  Tomorrow is sanding and painting.

Tonight I worked on a free form kitting project with the yarn from the yarn tasting yarn from Grandma's Spinning Wheel and some small samples of other yarn that I have spun and gotten from other people.  I will post a picture tomorrow.

I think it's time to take some Tylenol to help me sleep.
