This was a lay low weekend for us. We had lots of rest time and a few journeys. Eric and his friend went to the Tucson Ronald McDonald house to drop off tabs. They had over 8 pounds at 1,600 tabs per pound. So we need more tabs please. Then where else do you go when you have been to RMCH to McDonald's of course.
We got to Costco today and filled our bag for Project Issiah. We also got a few things for the house. Another hat was finished and one more cast on. A few chores were accomplished too. I managed to complete 2 pairs of pants in the mending pile, with more sewing scheduled for this week.
The good news is that I am managing to get enough rest so that the flare up will be a short one.
A blog about my life, my fiber arts and pictures of my finished work. I will also throw in the very occasional recipe or shopping tip.

An Amazing Day
I think I had quite an amazing day today, considering Eric kept me up until 3 am and I was up before 7:30. I joined the Tuesday morning knitting group at Einsteins arriving a little late, I had a hard time getting into gear this morning. As I walked in Nancy said to the group that there is another teacher here to the assembled group. I looked around wondering who it might be and then Carolyn piped in that it was me. Was I ever so surprised that Nancy thought so much of my humble knitting skills. So I spent part of the morning teaching an adorable little blond how to pearl and cast on. Considering how tired I was, I found that I could improvise on my feet pretty well.
A drive to Kiwi to look at some fibre and for the other to get more yarn to finish their current projects. Then more driving to the Tucson Mall to have lunch at the California Pizza Kitchen. Note to self even the half order of salad is enough for 2. Their Moroccan Chicken salad is just wonderful. Just be sure to leave off the dressing for the full flavor of the salad.
I then went home and watched a little Tivo until Eric got home. A little spinning and laundry got done. The dishwasher run and emptied. Did I mention that I had planed leftovers for dinner so there was no cooking involved.
I would like to thank every one who has helped Eric over the last 2 months collecting tabs for our local Ronald McDonald house. His 2 month total was 3.9 pounds. That is quite a lot for one not so little guy to carry in.
Well here is hoping that the not so little guy is asleep.

Bake Sale Announcment
On Wednesday, July 21, 2010 Eric's camping group Taglit will be holding it's annual Bake Sale.
It will be held from 10:00am to 3:30pm in the JCC lobby. The main parking lot is at the corner of Alvernon and Dodge it's big enough not to miss.
This year all the proceeds will benefit the Tucson Ronald McDonald House. This is a place where families can stay while their children are receiving treatment away from home, at a very nominal cost to the families.
In addition to the basket of goodies on the left, which is full of scarfs, bookmarks(the squiggly looking things) what nots, coasters and last but not least wash cloths. Yes the basket does look a bit empty and I am still making more goodies for it.
There will also be cookies, cupcakes, Rice Krispie Treats, brownies and lemon bars.
If you have any soda pop tops I will also leave a box for you to drop them off during the bake sale. Please put them in a clean Ziploc bag. The Tucson Ronald McDonald house uses the money raised from the soda pop tops to help pay the utility bills and other expenses. This is a year round project for Eric, he really does like helping the sick kids and their families.
So please stop by and get a mid-day snack or pick up something for a dessert treat for later in the day. While you are there you might want to also take a peek at the sculpture garden.
Please feel free to copy this post on put it on local bulletin boards.

Children, The Good Side
I just got a direct message from Teri, it looks as if she has finally found her niche in this great big world. As a mother who promised her for years that she would find where she belongs, this is music to my ears. This seems more like an opus than any old song, but this makes me very happy.
Eric has also found something that makes him happy. He has started a community service project at school. He is collecting pull tops from cans for the Tucson Ronald McDonald House. I know this might sound like an oxy-moron to most people, a sick kid helping other sick kids, but the joy he receives for helping the other sick kids is beyond belief. Last month between his home collection efforts and his rallying people at school he turned in 2 pounds of tabs.
If you would like to be part of Eric making the world a better place for other sick kids by saving tabs please let me know. Lets all help Eric make the world change for the better.
As for me I am still knitting hats to help kids keep warm this winter. I am ripping through yarn at a good rate of speed and should be able to pull a box or 2 of stash yarn from the garage soon. If you need hats or scarfs for kids please let me know, I will try to help. They will be wool or cotton, because I don't do acrylic or polyester.
I hope you are all having a wonderful day. Enjoy your families.
