My First Hand Knit Sweater

This is my very first hand knit sweater that was knit on Wednesday. One of Eric's Elmo's is wearing it. I would like everyone to know it only took me 10 years to get one made. If you need a sweater for a beanie size friend I think I can now handle that with some ease.  Thursday  I also completed a second sweater for one of Eric's friends.  I think that I am on a roll here.

I have got to go now. I hear the laundry calling my name. Hopefully I can get more than 10 loads of laundry and cleaning done this weekend. I need to get my 35 grams of fiber today.

Life on Hold

It is very early on Sunday morning, Eric has been sick since Thursday. It started off as a cold and morphed into hell if I know.  I just opened the last bottle of pedialyte, I almost ordered it on Amazon earlier but it would not get here before Tuesday.  So I guess I will be making a run later this morning.

Eric has been hanging on to the baby Elmo that Candy knit up for him a few years ago. Out of the more than 90 quarts of Elmo's Eric, has this is the go to one when he is not feeling well. It's the little things in life that make the difference.

I am tired enough to say the heck with laundry, except for the eyrpy stuff. I know it will come back to bite me later but I really don't care at this point.

Breakfast consists of Belvita breakfast cookies and Raspberry Riot tea from Tevana.  This tea is suppose to have more caffeine than coffee. I know I got 5 1/2 hours of sleep last night, but I am still tired after be being up the better part of the 2 previous nights. John took Eric for most of last night.  I am really tired so I am having trouble being upbeat right now.  So to try to be more positive I will say that I have completed 3 rectangles for the knitting guild presidents challenge.  It takes 2 rectangles to make a poncho so I should have the second poncho done later today.  Right now my goal is to make as many rectangles as possible and use as much yarn up as possible in doing this.  I am wishful thinking that I can make a dent in my yarn stash by making lots of ponchos.

Well I think it is time to start burning through some yarn now.  I wish everyone a very happy and productive day.  Please take time to enjoy your families this week.

Party Day

We had a small party for Eric today. We had 1 friend for Eric and just did a little hanging out and relaxing. A lot of the Elmo's made it off the shelf. At one point we had a Sesame Street video going plus a few Elmos' sing and one even telling stories. Eric reached for every Elmo that made it to the bed. Matthew even managed to find and get John to open 2 more Elmo's that were still in the boxes. Eric and Matthew had a great time even though I fell asleep this morning instead of making a cake. I don't think it made a difference to either of them.

The party favor was a new dog pillow for Matthews dog. I had enough scraps to stuff a dog pillow for Frank. I made the mistake of putting my hand in the stuffing mix and have a nice blister on my hand. Polyfil is great to stuff dog pillows with along with yarn and spinning scraps, but my skin does not like it. When will I ever learn. sigh.

I did manage to score a Phat Fiber sampler box on the second drop today and it should be here before Thanksgiving. I did not find time to spin but I did get a few rows done on a hat and 1 1/2 squares done on Teri's blanket. I think the month is catching up with me so it is time to call it a night.

A Good End to a Rocky Day.

My day started at 5 am, not to whine but I really like to sleep till 6 am. I find it amazing how I can go from a sound sleep to running at full speed when I hear Eric eyrp. Eric's morning aide Joe was wonderful. I even got to make a pedilyte run before he left at 8 am.

I knew the casher at the store was cranky when she saw my full cart. Yes it is amazing how fast I can fill up a large shopping cart. 30 minutes flat today, but the good news was I got healthy stuff to munch on instead of junk food. Well anyway I had to wait 5 minutes for another cashier to come and the assistant manager finally checked me out even though the only open check stand was empty. I am so glad I was not having the cashier’s day.

Once home the perishables were put away and I left the other stuff on the table till I had time. Eric managed to make 4 loads of laundry by himself between 5 am and 10 am. I did manage to get it all washed and folded and most of it put away. There was some knitting that got done while I was sitting with Eric, about 2 squares on Teri’s blanket, it has a nice easy pattern on size 7 needles so it’s not a bad knit and can be put down in mid row without losing my place.

Once Eric started feeling better there was keeping him amused and busy. I really do love the DVD of “Elmo Loves You” and thank goodness for Handy Manny, Bear in the Big Blue House and all the other shows that Eric likes to listen too.

When Kayla his afternoon aide came I managed to get all Eric’s food and feeding supplies organized. I just have to finish doing the rest of the cleaning up done. So now that my break is over it is back to play catch up so it does not look like a storm ran through here today.

I plan on having a great evening with John and relaxing, I sincerely hope that this plan stays in place. Have a great evening and enjoy your families.

Our Adventure

Today is the day for Eric's out patient dental surgery. There is a lot to get done before we leave today. If we get to come home I will blog about today, tonight. If we get to spend the night at the "Club" ie TMC peds ward I will tell you about our adventures in dentistry at a later date.

So I am going to pack for the contingency of staying and hope it is for not. After all there is yarn to pack, knitting mags, clothes and toiletries for me. Eric must have his special Project Linus blanket, the one he got when he was 5. I would like to thank that quilter from long ago, you have made a lasting positive impact on Eric's life. Then there is the current favorite Elmo and pods to find. Pod casts to down load.

It is time to get caffeinated and busy.

Last night one of the bed rails on Eric's bed broke. We lost a rivet that holds the bar in place that operates the up down function of the rail. John was able to do a temporary fix but said that if I put the bed rail down it will break again. The question that has been on my mind since last night is will it take a month of a rental bed and almost 2,000 dollars to fix like last time or are rivets cheaper than circuit boards. I sent out a tweet asking if anyone knew of someone who could replace a rivet on a hospital bed, but I have not received an answer yet. If you dear reader know of some one please let me know.

We did manage to get out of the house today. Lunch at the mall and the movies. I really like the cinaplex's because we can divide and conquer. Teri and John saw the new Transformer movie and liked it a lot. Eric and I saw the new Sandra Bullock movie Proposal. Eric was tired and slept through part of the movie. I on the other hand think that it is on of her better movies. When is the sequel coming?

After the movie Eric and I cruised the mall looking for a new Elmo pillow for his bed. I found it very shocking at the number of stores that were closing. It just seemed so dismal. The only part of the mall that seemed to be thriving was the food court. I do hope that the economy turns around soon.

John made great salads for dinner while I feed Eric. Now that Eric is done with his percussion treatment I am hoping that we can watch the Dr.Who special that John Tivo'ed off the BBC. I am hoping for another quiet night, I really do like to sleep.

Have a great Sunday everyone.
