Slowing Down

I have been in a crazy mode since the accident on December 7. 2015. My life just took on an agenda of its own and I tried to keep up. I can really feel the effects it has been having on my body. So I am taking Teri's advice that "No" is a complete sentence with no explanation necessary. I am trying to do things that relax me and that I want to do.

I took the weekend off, as much as I could at least. The guys took me to Dim Sum at China Phoenix on Saturday. Out to dinner with John on Saturday and Sunday nights. Lisa, Eric and I also went to see the movie Mothers Day on Mother's Day. If you need to see a great movie that will keep you laughing most of the time, this is the on to go see. Yes, it is a chick flick. Yes the weekend did include 5 loads of laundry, I am beginning to think in his own way Eric is showing me his love.

Everyone gave me flavored teas to help with a healthier lifestyle. I still have not had a soda since the flu bug a few months ago.

I also have been knitting more, which is not a bad thing. Well it might, because I have a lot of knitting and weaving to do before I really need to shop for yarn. I spent some time spinning today. I am finally unwound enough to try sleep so wish me luck.

A Great Weekend

It was a good weekend around here. I can truly say it was very relaxing.  I was overwhelmed by flowers from the guys this weekend. John gave me some very pretty roses. Eric made a vase of lovely construction paper flowers in a vase filled with buttons. He also had help at his day program making and painting a clay rose, which was also fired. He also made me a small knitting bag.  I also got a call from Teri.

Lunch was the traditional Mother's Day Dim Sum ( Dim sum (/ˈdɪmˈsʌm/) refers to a style of Cantonese food prepared as small bite-sized or individual portions of food traditionally served in small steamer baskets or on small plates.*1 ) If you are in Tucson you must try the Dim Sum at China Phoenix at the corner of Ina and Oracle in the Safeway shopping center. We have been going there since the mid 1990's and the food is still wonderful. They server it on weekends only from 10am to 3 pm. We like to get there on the earlier side.

Dinner was a very light affair of Sushi at Shogun's at the corner of River and Oracle in the Denny's parking lot. Yes it was a weekend full of eating.

I also found some time for knitting and spinning. No projects finished though.

The current load of laundry is almost finished washing. As soon as it goes into the dryer it will be time to start the next load and go to bed. We had a formula spill tonight and it has to be washed before it drys, otherwise it leaves a stain and the laundry room smelling like formula,

Mother's Day 2011

My Mother's Day for this year started rather early this morning as Eric is having a rather hard time recovering from this bout of pneumonia. I truly had one of those befuddled nights with no attention span at all. I started out knitting on a poncho. After a few rows I switched to a scarf. Then to yet another scarf and back and forth between the 2 scarfs. I think I have a few too many things on the needles when I can switch back and forth like that and still not get anything finished.

I got to talk to my mom very early this morning before she headed out to my sisters house. The guys took me to brunch at China Phoenix for dim sum.  I then got to spend the afternoon spinning and knitting. Yes I again hopped from project to project. I still have a lot of UFOs.

One of the high lights of my day was that Teri managed to break away from studying for finals for a few minutes to talk. Talk about an  wonderful an unexpected call. John and I got a quick dinner at Mayco's while Eric and his aide worked on his night time routine. Well I think I will call it a night and try to stay awake long enough to put Eric to bed.

This Weekend

We have had a very enjoyable weekend. Yesterday Eric, Natalie, Nancy and I went to Tucson Meet Yourself in it's new expanded format. The food was great. We caught one Motown cover group. I was a shame that they did not have a CD or I would have had 1 less gift to buy for Eric. We seemed to walk forever and it still amazes me that people will cut off a wheelchair thinking I can stop on a dime and not hit them by accident. Look at it this way if you can not stop your car on a dime what chance do I have pushing a 80+ pound wheelchair with and 80+ pound boy and all the mobile equipment we take every where. A good time was had by all, but a little more shade would have been great. We did stop by a local favorite Eegee's for their signature slush's on the way home. It was a nice treat from Nancy.  Nancy and Natalie enjoy the flavor of the month black raspberry and I stuck with my standby pina colada.

I have to admit after pushing Eric up and down ramps, bridges and all over Tucson Meet Yourself I did take a nap when we got home. Eric also did not want to unwind from such a fun day. So we were up till all hours and I did cheat on today's chores. I started the laundry while I was waiting for Eric to go to sleep. I got 2 loads done, but I would have rather had the sleep.

Today was a very kick back day with brunch at China Phoenix for Dim Sum (Chinese dishes that involves small individual portions of food) at Oracle and Ina in the Safeway shopping center. The food was good as usual. As usual we ordered way too much and took some home for tomorrow. I think I really did plan on taking some home, I just hoped that we would have a few more footballs to take home.

Since it was right there I went to Safeway while John stayed and helped Eric finish his lunch. The timing worked out perfectly. I had finished most of my shopping by the time the guys caught up with me. Eric and I then spent the rest of the afternoon enjoying the great out doors.

Yes I did spend some time knitting this weekend and even finished 3 projects. Well I hear the rest of the laundry calling me. So have a great evening and enjoy your families.

Vacation So Far or My Adventures with Teri

Yesterday we started off the morning at an awesome donut shop not far from Teri's place called Physico Donuts, I kid you not a real place with really wonderful vegan doughnuts and the others doughnuts looked pretty awesome. I will post their address in a vacation summary when I get home. Then it was off to the mall for some serious shopping and walking. After dropping everything of at Teri's place we went to an awesome Art and Wine Festival that Teri found. We had some really fresh  fruit to start lunch off. Followed by so fresh roasted corn. We found a fish and chips booth that served fish and chips and the fries we covered with fresh garlic. I have never had anything like that before, but they were wonderful.  I wonder if it has anything to do with being so close to Gilroy, but I will definitely have them again and find a recipe to post on line. Yes the were really that good.

We had a great time walking around the art festival and saw a lot of incredible arts and crafts for sale. Since this is really a brief summary I will blog about the artists we found in a later blog.

After a 4 hour nap Teri brought in sushi for dinner at 9 pm. After a little girl chat it was off to sleep.

Today was another wonderful day. We started out at an impressionist art exhibit in Golden Gate park. with some great and not so great paintings. I think I like the Monet exhibit at the Phoenix Museum of Art is slightly better and they seem to have a better flow to their traveling exhibits. But I digress a little bit. The Original picture of Whistler's Mother was great, along with Monet's flag line street and a few others. Please try to go to this exhibit if you are in San Francisco during the show. A little pricey but worth the money.

We had Tea and sweets at the Japanese Tea garden an did walk around a little, but I was on the tired side and even with a snack in my tummy I really wanted lunch. Teri took me to a wonderful Dim Sum place for lunch. I shall also post the name and address of the Dim Sum place in my summary. We walked around the newer China Town in San Francisco.  We then headed off to a factory tour but I did not get good vibes about the neighborhood it was in so we drove by and left. We then headed to a place called the Embarkadro. We had some local tea from Pete's tea and did a little shopping.

It is now 7 pm so I think I will wake my driver up so we can go and get some dinner. Did I mention how nice it is to be chauffeured around by a daughter who drives. The boys seems to be have fun at home also. I hear that they went to Miss Saigon's and Frost yesterday. Well have a great evening and enjoy your families.

My Mother's Day

Well today was Mothers Day in the United States and all in all I had an ideal Mothers Day. I got to sleep in until 8 am, which is a luxury. We had a very slow morning followed by Dim Sum (Chinese sweet treats) for brunch. Followed by a quick trip to pick up odds and ends at the supermarket.

I do admit that I got a small chink in my armor today at the checkout line. I have not seen many of Eric’s friends from school since they graduated from high school. One of his friends was our cashier today, I am so proud of her; she is at the University of Arizona now. I did forget to ask what her major was; however. There was just enough emotion to make me a bit sad. I am happy for Eric’s friend and sad for all the roads Eric will never travel in this life.

When we got home we watched the movie the Invention of Lying, all in all a pretty good movie. During the Movie I got a quick call from Teri wishing me happy Mother’s Day. I did get a lot of knitting done today, a little on Teri’s blanket, a little on a baby blanket that I keep in Eric’s room, and a little on a lovely Llama and mohair scarf. I know I have multiple projects going, but it is more convenient to have different projects in different areas of the house and car.

John made a lovely salad for dinner and I cut the bread for the sandwiches which we each assembled to our own liking. We watched a little more TV after dinner and I did some more knitting and blogging.

Well it is now time to get ready for bed. 6:00 am comes awfully early. So have a great night and enjoy your families.

First Really Bad Day Without Diet Soda

Well we know it had to happen sometime. Eric had a long night and I had no diet soda to keep me awake. Worse yet I did not have my ritual 2 cans after a long night to wake me up. I was tired and sluggish all day. Teri and John did all the driving. Did I mention how nice it is to be chauffeured around everywhere.

Despite my lack of sleep we did manage a full day. We ate Dim Sum for brunch. Brunch was followed by a mass hair cut for the guys and Teri at Supercuts. We then dropped the guys off and went shoe shopping. Teri got new tennis shoes and the nicest boots at Alan’s Shoes. We took a walk around LaEncanata and did the shopping for dinner at AJ’s.

At 4 pm my body said enough and a 3 hour nap followed. At least I had the foresight to get dinner cooking before the nap so we had dinner at a decent hour.

It was difficult but I did make it through the day without diet soda. I am still tired and maybe it’s time to say good night to the Dr. Who special and turn in.

Enjoy your families and have a great year.
