A Busy Day

Sometimes the perils in pattern writing is the the letters and numbers dance around the page like a Conga line dances through a room.  My current pattern fits this to an exact T as in T Square.  Today I tried to figure out if I hit that magic sweet spot of pattern section repeats.  I simply could not figure it out.  So I will keep knitting and working the pattern out row by row. I just have to have things add up to my magic number and maintain the angles, it’s really not that hard until I can no longer walk, talk and knit at the same time. This sitting down to write  patterns down is sometimes very hard work.

If I take this pattern row by row it is a very delightful knit.  Just enough change from row to row to keep the pattern interesting.  My student whom I am writing it for, loves the pattern so far. She is on section 2 around row 8.  She likes the fact that after so few rows knit and purled stitches a pattern is visible.   That makes me so happy.  I am only 2 full sections ahead of her so I have to find more time to finish this.

In other news the bathroom is now painted.  I just have to pull the tape off the grab bar.  Give it a few days to dry. This is where a second shower is very helpful. Then put everything back where it belongs.  Also just a few projects to go before craft room 1 is ready to become the guest room.  My new storage containers for craft room 2 are somewhere in Phoenix. Hopefully they will arrive tomorrow, they were supposed to be here today, alas this is the season of shipping hiccups.

I also came up with an innovative way to put my shoes away. I slip on one pair and walk to my closet   Take the shoes off and put them away. I repeated this process until all my shoes were put away while bring laundry from the clothes line to the closet’s. I got 2 chores done at once and added steps to boot.

I am hoping despite be sore all over, all day that I will sleep tonight.  Wish me luck.

Just Maybe?

I am slowly getting back the use of my right hand.  It still gets tired very easily.  I did manage to fold one load of laundry today.  Most of the day my hand was to tired to do anything. Tomorrow before my hand gets tired, I will try to sew up 3 seems to get the dog pillows out of the house.

I think I have a lot of small projects that can be finished with the sewing machine. This means that I just need to guide the fiber and let the machine do the work.

I am still bored.  I need a new hobby. One that is not so hand intensive.

A Very Bad Body Day.

I had a very bad body day.  I slept a lot but finally got most of the pain in control by bed time.  I am hoping for a better day tomorrow.

Wrapped in Love

I know it was 113f outside today. I was still cold and achy.  So I wrapped myself in the Virus Shawl that was made for me by my friend Inge and took a long nap.  I felt like I was wrapped up in love.  I felt better afterwards.

I am still not at 100%, and flare ups have a way of making me tired and achy.  So having a couple of extra naps today was great.

The Virus Shawl pattern is available on Raverly.

Too Much Tension

It has been a very busy tension filled week. Weeks like this are not kind  to my arthritis.  I find the more tension the worse the arthritis flare up is.  It has really been too much tension for me. We got a lot done which really helps. This being said, I am on day 2 of an awful tension headache. So my game plan for the rest of the day is chores, knitting and working on a new design.

I really want to see how many projects I can get finished today.  Wish me luck.

Not 30

I am not 30 anymore.  I can feel it after 4 very bad nights with Eric. Besides being tired my hands feel numb and my skin hurts.  It has some very big downsides not being 30. So tonight I hope Eric sleeps.  Goodnight all.

More Zenning

Today was day two of zenning the craft room. There were some surprises along the way again, such as finding out that I had done enough knitting to move a lot of yarn to the closet yarn stash. Also 18 cotton yarn cones takes up about a cubic feet of space.

I am trying to organize the rack by fiber craft. This makes it much easier to see what I have lined up. Yes, I also found more yarn, please tell me that you are not surprised by this. I need to set up the wider loom to make some more rag rugs and summer shawls, yes I found a lot of supplies. A few quilts are in the line up too. Before and after pictures will be forth coming.

Today I sent 5 knitting looms to Ironwood Ridge Elementary School for their hat knitting project. One class makes hats for sick kids and baby's at the local hospital. A great project to support in my very humble opinion.

My hands are still tired and sore from last weekend so only about a half of an inch of knitting got done. I did however make a chicken tomatillo soup for dinner.  Cutting the vegetables was very interesting to say the least, no even cuts today. The best part is that we have enough for tomorrow too. Let me know if you want the recipe.

A Yucky Day

Most of the day was spent resting, because I woke up in a full flare up. John even picked up Eric so I could take a nap.  Hopefully the flare up will not last long.

Bits and Pieces

We had a great Thanksgiving visit with Teri and Tej, they are both safely back at home. We are so incredibly lucky to have them in our lives. Eric is feeling better and is back at his day program after 5 days off. I am playing catch up and should have everything back to pre-holiday madness in a week or so. The laundry room was higher than knee high yesterday.

My body hit the proverbial brick wall after going full speed ahead for more then 3 weeks running. I really hate when I get so tired that I can not move and just have to fall asleep on the spot. Thankfully John was able to pick up Eric today and make a wonderful dinner. I really need this flare up to go away so I can sleep at the normal time. I really can not say it is a positive getting the cleaning and laundry done in the middle of the night when I need to sleep.

We had a second scorpion in the house today. Thankfully it was a baby one that John scooped up with tissue and disposed of it. All without smashing it on the bedspread, saving me another load of laundry. Yeah John. I would have smashed first and scooped second. I guess it is time to get the foundation sealed and the house painted.

Day 8

My hands are doing better. I have limited use of my hands. I can do most of my household chores that do not require hand strength. That gives me a lot of time to get rid of small stuff. I have made great progress in the craft room. I can knit a few rows before my hands get tired so I am not pushing it.

I have been doing a lot of weaving on the rigid heddle loom. I am also doing a lot of experimenting. Today I discovered that if a yarn is to springy it does not make a good warp. Yes I will finish the scarf, but use some of the yarn in the scarf. I also discovered that if I am using a lot of different weight yarns in different colors I need more shuttles. I am also glad that I have a comb as the heddle does not do well on curves. So here is a picture in progress. Sorry for the sideways picture.
